Rodney has been a Certified Athletic Therapist, CAT(C), with the Canadian Athletic Therapy Association (CATA) for the last 25 years, as well as a Registered Kinesiologist.

In addition to working at Cobourg Spine and Sports Injury Clinic, Rodney is the head Athletic Therapist with the Northumberland Stars Junior hockey team. Rodney has also been a head athletic therapist with teams in the OJHL, OHL, ECHL and AHL.

With a strong foundation in sports injury management, Rodney brings a wealth of experience to his practice. He is committed to delivering personalized, one-on-one care at every session and emphasizes the importance of tailored treatment plans that address each client’s unique needs—helping them recover effectively and reach their goals.

Rodney is known for his hands-on approach to therapy, with specialized training in soft tissue release and massage techniques. He integrates manual therapy with the use of modalities such as ultrasound (U/S), interferential current (IFC), TENS, and neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), along with customized exercise prescriptions to create a personalized and effective treatment plan.

Rodney, originally from Cobourg, enjoys staying connected to his roots and community. Outside of work, he values spending quality time with family and friends. An avid hockey player, he stays active by hitting the ice regularly, combining his passion for the sport with a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

Athletic therapy is a specialized field focused on the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal (muscle, bone, joint) injuries and conditions, primarily for active individuals. Athletic therapists provide immediate care, rehabilitation programs, and injury prevention strategies to help people return to peak physical condition and optimize performance, using a combination of manual therapy, exercise, and modalities

MASSAGE THERAPY

Cobourg Spine and Sports Injury Clinic offers registered massage therapy for everyday discomfort, sports related injuries and Sacro cranial massage.

ACTIVE RELEASE

Active Release Techniques treatments address problems in individual tissues as well as in between tissues. Active release treatments are very effective.

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Shockwave therapy is a safe, non-invasive treatment that involves a series of intense acoustic pressure waves that are transmitted into the tissue to provide pain pain relief and restore mobility. Shockwave therapy accelerates the healing process in the body by stimulating metabolic activity and enhancing blood circulation to regenerate damaged soft tissue, tendons and ligaments. Shockwave therapy is very effective in the treatment of chronic tendinopathies that haven’t responded well to other treatments; these include: plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonopathy, calcific tendonitis of the shoulder, rotator cuff tendonitis, lateral/medial epicondylitis and patellar tendonitis.
If you would like more information, or to book a Shockwave Therapy treatment, call the CSSIC office or book online with Jayne Cummings, RMT.
