Massage Therapy

Jayne Cummings, RMT, BPhE

Jayne was raised in Port Hope where she grew up playing competitive soccer. She graduated with a Bachelor of Physical Education from Brock University where she played varsity soccer and worked as a student therapist in the clinic. It was during those years that she grew to understand the importance of the therapist’s vital role in injury prevention and recovery, and optimal health and athletic performance.

In 2004 she graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy (CCMH) and began her career as an RMT. Jayne has worked almost exclusively at Sports Medicine Clinics in Waterloo and North Vancouver, as well as an Outreach and Clinic Supervisor for CCMH. Jayne is a member of both the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia and Ontario.

During her sixteen years as a therapist Jayne has treated many sports related musculoskeletal injuries and worked with a wide range of individuals, from recreational and varsity, to national calibre athletes. Along with your input, Jayne will establish an individualized treatment plan geared towards getting your body back to health and keeping you moving.

Jayne practices a multitude of health care modalities and has continued to upgrade her skills as a manual therapist through continuous ongoing education. Jayne has obtained certification in a number different techniques like Deep tissue Sports Massage, Advanced Muscle Energy Techniques, Kinesio Taping, Graston Technique, and has achieved a Masters designation in Myofascial Release. Most recently Jayne has added Cranial Sacral therapy to her skill set.

Jayne is an avid triathlete, and enjoys taking long walks on the beach with her partner and dog.

ACTIVE RELEASE

Active Release Techniques treatments address problems in individual tissues as well as in between tissues. Active release treatments are very effective.

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Shockwave therapy is a safe, non-invasive treatment that involves a series of intense acoustic pressure waves that are transmitted into the tissue to provide pain pain relief and restore mobility. Shockwave therapy accelerates the healing process in the body by stimulating metabolic activity and enhancing blood circulation to regenerate damaged soft tissue, tendons and ligaments. Shockwave therapy is very effective in the treatment of chronic tendinopathies that haven’t responded well to other treatments; these include: plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonopathy, calcific tendonitis of the shoulder, rotator cuff tendonitis, lateral/medial epicondylitis and patellar tendonitis.
